Residing on the cusp of being deemed a millennial I feel it is a social imperative to broadcast everything no-one wants to know about me. This is nothing more than my personal thought and opinions on anything I felt I had more than a single paragraph to write about

Human dependent wildlife
Conservationist projects are wonderful. I can't find fault with the idea of conservationist practices and projects. I may find faults in the execution, but never in the notion. Zoos and aquariums are up there as well. The idea of a controlled, safe, healthy environment with plenty of space and activity for animals from around the world, that may or may not be in danger, is great. It is only when the idea is executed in an inhuman way that I find fault with. Wildlife reserves, parks, zoos and aquariums are a briliant opportunity for animals and humans. They are a deep sea dive or an African safari for kids and adults alike, that don't and my never have the resources to have such adventures in the wild.
Zoos can be as much of a community fixture as any other park or center. Woodland Park Zoo, which I would consider my local zoo, throughout the summer does concerts. There is something unique and amazing about going to the ZooTunes. Not only is it a intimate park setting to listen to phenomenal musical artists but it also has a great medley of lion roars and zebra brays. What the people at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium have done for the Red Wolves is amazing and nothing to be belittled or over looked. Taking a beautiful creature from near extermination and bringing them back, with enough of a growing population to release into the wild
The issue I have is with the human refuse dependent creatures in the wild. Bears, squirrels, birds, and all sorts of animals are becoming more and more dependent on human refuse. Bears are almost never a problem except when they are breaking into peoples garages to get at garbage bins and teaching their offspring those practices instead of how to fish for salmon or where to find the best berry hunting. The problem is, humans are just as at fault as the burgling bears. If more people reduced their consumption, recycled everything they could and used a food waste or compost system, there wouldn't be the kinds of food scraps laying around for bears, raccoons and other creatures to get at. It's easier for a bear to put on five pounds eating potato chips than it is hunting and eating berries. Their smart creatures, they know whats easiest and like their human counterparts they do it. As the "more evolved" species humans need to make a better effort over all to have smaller impact on the wildlife around them.
