Note Worthy Glass Artist

Paul Joseph Stankard
Paul Joseph Stankard is considered the father of modern glass paperweights. He graduated from Salem Vocational Technical School with a degree in scientific glassblowing, where he then subsequently worked for ten years as a glassblower of scientific instruments and glassware. He always leaned more toward the creative, and inventive, so he began making glass paperweights in his garage. One of his many contributions to the glass art is his exceptionally botanically accurate flower paperweights changing the status of glass paperweights status from that of a "craft" to a "fine art."  He has received numerous awards and accolades for more information see his website at http://www.paulstankard.com/, photo courtesy of The Press of Atlantic City.
