Famous individuals are idolized, revered and practically worshiped. I honestly don't understand why a lot of people are famous and subsequently why some that should be aren't, probably all has to do with good publicists I guess. The point of my little tangent is that today I met one of those famous people, the ones that deserve and have earned their fame. Johnny Depp is in town. Its hush, hush, so it's a good thing no one but my mom reads this. He's as awesome as one would expect. A little scruffy, but exceedingly polite. In our very short conversation and hand shake I never once felt belittled or condescended to. All famous people are still just people. Depp is a talented enough actor that he could be thinking of me as an ant under his foot and merely be playing the role of my equal and I would't know the difference.
Being star struck effects everyone differently, some women start ripping their clothes off, some people clam up and can't say a word, some faint, some get all highfalutin, and for some like me, it doesn't really hit them till much later. It being the place I work that he was staying and having already seen a couple of the other employees literally crying in the kitchen because the great Johnny Depp acquiesced to shake their hand. So him being a famous man who constantly has people hanging on him I tried to treat him like any other guest, I'm not saying I succeeded, but I tried. I was the picture of professional, however in retrospect I kind of wish I had asked for his autograph of something. I guess that is just the latent starstruck-ness showing up.
